    Abstract
Rapid growth in the wireless phone industry has led to increased competition. This competition has led to a drastic decrease in the price of wireless phones, wireless service, and other products and services related to the wireless phone industry. I have been exposed to this occurrence during my ongoing work experience at AirLink PCS (personal communication systems). Air Link PCS is a local cell phone company in Portage, Michigan. It currently has over ten thousand subscribers. I have worked at AirLink PCS in sales and marketing for the past three years (part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer). This paper will discuss my experiences and duties at AirLink PCS. It will also relate my work experience to the increased competition in the wireless phone industry due to government intervention and the basics of capitalism. Wireless phone use has increased dramatically in the past few years. The increased competition (the FCC has recently past a law that allows up to seven cell phone carriers to compete in each market) is leading to decreased prices, expanded coverage areas, and better service.
