Navigating through the Basics of the Stock Market: My Look at the History and the Components of the U.S. Equities Markets
Abstract
My internship and research for this project have been directed towards preparing
myself for my career aspirations of becoming a stockbroker. My objective in my
research was to learn about the history of the stock market, its facets, and to see if I could
master the market after I gathered this information. We have many economic classes at
Kalamazoo College, but none that I think are directed solely at the stock market and its
functions. We can get pieces of it in certain classes, but the intricacies of the market are
usually not the focus. I felt this project would be a great way for me to get some
independent work on the things I wanted to learn. This came true.
