Abstract
This paper describes my internship experience with New York Life Insurance Company. The Internship section of the paper gives an overview of the process in becoming an insurance agent. This was primarily an internship in sales. In this section, I give descriptions of my experiences and my overall thoughts about the insurance industry. I describe how the company supervises its employees, the education process, and the requirements that an entry-level agent must pass. Also in this section, I go through the sales cycle that an agent has to learn. The Information and Research sections examines New York Life as an insurance company, the basic principles behind insurance, the various types of insurance products, and other related financial products. In this section, one can find how an agent uses the different types of insurance products for various purposes. Premiums and policies are also explained. We learn that insurance is a foundation of financial security and it is an invaluable part of a person's financial portfolio.
