This paper will asses the variability of the yuan within the framework of established exchange rate theory. Following a summary of current exchange rate theory, I will review recent economic trends in China's economy using both news sources and economic statistics. I will then propose a series of questions related to the yuan that will be answered using quantitative and qualitative analysis of the Chinese economy.en_US
