This paper can be broken down into two major components. The first half of the paper describes the nature of my internship at B & W Charters. This description included a look at the people I worked for and a brief history of the company itself. It also includes an in-depth description of the main tasks I preformed for the company. Some of the tasks I worked on were driver schedules, charter orders, and imputing quotes. I also performed a variety of other tasks ranging from quarterly fuel reports, to expense and customer evaluation. Most of the work I did for the company had to do with organizing trips and putting together tour group packages. This is why I choose to focus on new emerging travel trends for the research component. I also discussed what I learned from doing the internship in regards to how this section of the business world operated. The second half of this SIP was a research project I did concerning the new emerging travel trends within the middle class. During my time doing the internship I discovered that a majority of our trips went to places such as Cas~os, River Boat tours, and other similar places. After reviewing this, and talking with one of the owners who told me that this would be a good topic for the research component, I decided to investigate these new trends. First I visited one local Casino, and talked with a couple more over the phone. Then I did further research into older trends, compared to more modern travel tendencies. The experience of performing this internship and then writing about it gave me good insight into the transportation industry. Finally, this internship gave me a chance to learn new skills and gain valuable work experience, so that one day I too will be a successful business person.
