Abstract
While working at Olive Garden, the author researched the marketing strategies that they were using on a corporate and local level to determine if the Olive Garden was efficiently marketing their product. He integrated the information obtained from books, the financial numbers from the annual reports, and the local success of the Olive Garden to determine how successful their marketing plan has been. The author also studied the organizational behavior in the restaurant business. The first half of this paper talks about some essential ideas in the marketing world and why they are important. It will give an overview of the casual dining market and the competition that the Olive Garden faces. Then it will take an in depth look at their marketing strategy and the promotions they are running to remain the leader in their respective industry. The second half of this paper focuses on organizational behavior in the restaurant business and also gives examples of how the Olive Garden management team operates. In conclusion, the Olive Garden has employed a very successful marketing concept that has differentiated them from their competitors.
