Over the past few years, management at RDS realized that it was not using its employees or its other assets in a way that would maximize efficiency. As a result, during the summer months of 2000, RDS restructured. In the competitiveness of today's business world, many companies are doing this. Proctor and Gamble, PepsiCo, and Ford are a few of the large organizations that have gone through recent restructuring. There are several things that companies do to restructure. Generally, firms focus on lowering costs, improving technology, and improving asset management.
