This report is divided into three main parts. The first part includes research on the trade show industry, specifically those trade shows in the gift industry. Part one will introduce the steps that are necessary for entrance into a trade show as an exhibitor. This first chapter will also cover the possible reasons for exhibiting at a show, and evaluate which reasons are credible and which are not. The second chapter will introduce the numerous functions that exhibiting at a trade show may serve, as well as offer many suggestions for a successful trade show. The final chapter will explain how to evaluate the trade show experience and determine whether to attend again in the following years. The second part of the paper will cover my internship experience at the Northern Economic Initiatives Center. The first three chapters will give an overview of the company and the flow of material through the company. The final four chapters will be devoted to describing the main four projects which were assigned to me during my six month work experience. These four projects include: client relations, the Handcraft Art Directory, research projects, and the Trade Show Program. The author also discusses her work at the Small Business Development Center as an Assistant to the Director.
