Behavioral Self Regulation and Emergent Writing Skills in Preschool Children

There is much debate in American school systems about whether proper preschool curriculum should be more focused on academic skills or self-regulatory skills. This study examines how academic skills are related to behavioral self-regulation in preschool students. The study finds that self-regulation may be predictive of academic growth. Implications for preschool education are discussed.
