Abstract
The current study explores the relationship between maternal PTSD and depression and infant temperament in a sample of mothers and their infants (n = 55). I hypothesized that maternal psychopathology would relate to difficult infant temperament (high negative affectivity), and that maternal reports of infant temperament would differ from observed reports of infant temperament. Maternal psychopathology did not relate to difficult infant temperament, though high infant negative affectivity did predict future maternal diagnoses of PTSD. In addition, maternal report differed from observed reports, but this difference was not related to maternal psychopathology.
