This SIP is the result of a ten weeks spent in a cotton company in Bombay, India. The project involved a comparative analysis between the company and the entire India cotton economy. I also did a year forecast for various factors involved in the cotton industry. The predictions themselves were based on macroeconomics forecasts in the Data Resources Model of the India Economy. In some cases the results were adjusted using add factors. In order to do the comparative analysis and forecasts, it was necessary for me to gain an understanding of the cotton production as a whole. The first section of this paper is a brief historic preview of the India cotton economy. The second section is divided in two parts, comparative analysis and forecasts. As a whole, the Indian cotton production has been increasing at a very fast rate for the last 5, 6 years. It seems that the quality of the cotton in India has also increased, therefore the company should follow the same path of the entire Indian cotton industry. Eventually, however, the company will need to follow and concentrate with the same varieties of cotton that the country produces.
