Applied Management Skills in the Area of Equestrian Competition

Abstract

There were a number of reasons that I chose this opportunity for my SIP. Probably the largest reason I chose this was the fact that this is a field of work that interests me a great deal. I am excited about pursuing a possible career this field after graduation. I have been working at the club for three years now and love being outdoors for the entire summer. The last two years, however, have allowed me to do work in a field that I would enjoy working in for the rest of my life. That field is running or assisting in the running of large events. The club has allowed me to run or assist events such as the Motor City and Detroit Horse Shows and the Joe Dumars/Mentadent tennis tournament. While doing this I was able to expand my knowledge in this potential field and also meet some people who do this for a living, thus giving me some great contacts for future employment. The single show that I chose to present on was only a fraction of what I was able to do in pursuit of future employment.
