Abstract
As a lab consultant in the Kalamazoo College computer facilities, I have seen many changes in technology that is used in education. New software programs, more advanced computers and greater access to communication networks are continually introduced. So much in fact it is difficult to keep up with all of the new innovation. The speed at which these technologies develop will accelerate as their life cycles shorten and new companies that create them are born. New technologies that communicate information are readily integrated into educational institutions. As a result, schools are able to enhance the education of their students. Some schools, however, are either unable to procure these technologies or are simply unresponsive to the challenge. This is unfortunate since students will become increasingly reliant on these technologies for their future livelihood. The importance of information technology has become very evident to me. For that reason, I have decided to investigate different aspects of the information technology industry and the implications for education in adapting to its creations.
