    Abstract
For my Senior Individualized Project, I was part of the marketing team at Services Marketing Specialists (SMS). SMS is a full-service marketing consulting firm that specializes in the strategic marketing planning and the implementation of marketing programs for professional service organizations and business to business companies. The role of the intern as laid out to me was to assist the consultants by completing riting projects, conducting marketing research, working on specific client assignments, maintaining mailing lists, assisting in production and implementation coordination, implementing routine marketing assignments and updating and maintaining SMS reference materials. Specifically I worked on two different types of projects: those for outside clients and those for SMS. I worked on six different outside client projects. For SMS, I provided an entrance for on-line capability and a complete public relations plan of action. I also initiated new organizational systems for media kits and client information. Each client project focused on a different aspect of marketing. Harcon Engineering required field research into non-automotive industries for possible integration of their line feed systems. The Canadian Consulate General needed direct marketing tools to advertise, enhance and put together a trade expo in six weeks time. RHL Associates requested a re-design of a web to promote awareness of certain seminars. HealthPreservation needed a new brochure incorporating their on-site health evaluation plan. Deloitte & Touche and St. John Hospital both wanted to expand their corporate networking through organizational involvement Writing projects that I completed included form letters for marketing purposes, articles for the company newsletter and marketing articles for different legal, architectural, and accounting publications. Organizational activities that I continually worked on were updating and maintaining Goldmine database and formulating an expandable filing system for media kits. For my final task I was asked to create and implement a complete public relations plan for SMS that future interns and personnel could easily follow.
