Since its beginnings in the late 1960's, the Internet has revolutionized the way that many Americans do their research, find their entertainment, and even do their shopping. I wanted to find out from my SIP project just how far the Internet had penetrated our culture. With businesses now conducting transactions online and Americans increasing their exposure to the Internet, there are vast opportunities for companies of any size and scope to market their products online. Of particular interest to me was the company that I did my internship with Ace-Tex Enterprises. I wanted to find out for them the possible benefits that an online campaign might present. The statistics that I found suggested that Ace-Tex could reap benefits from marketing their products online if they are diligent in how they market their web-site. I learned from my research and from my job experience that a successful Internet marketing campaign must involve the whole staff. Everyone should take part in creating and promoting the site. I worked extensively with the Sales Manager in Grand Rapids to gain his input, and I also worked with other managers in Detroit who had valuable ideas. Since Ace-Tex wanted to include both their retail and automotive products, I needed to work with both departments to create an effective web-site that truly reflected the entire company. I included the suggestions that I proposed to Mr. Laker in the Appendix section of the paper. The web-site is not fully functional as of yet because we are still waiting for some graphics from the guys in Detroit.
