Abstract
The topic of small enterprises in developing countries is an issue that is very interesting. This is especially true today with the increased globalization of the economy. These small enterprises play an integral role in the development process and without them things would be very different. With more and more industries moving from developed countries into developing countries, these small enterprises sometimes don't receive the proper amount of help to promote healthy development. In researching this topic I have realized the difficulties that are faced by developing countries concerning small scales enterprises. Since many of the people that live in developing countries are involved in these micro-industries, it is important that the government consider all implications of the policies they decide to use. I have also realized that this topic is relatively new in the field of economics. Only in the last 50 years or so did anyone even consider looking in depth at the role small enterprises play in economic development. In the future, it looks to be a topic that is going to receive a good deal of attention.
