Women At Work: An Informal Look at White Collar Working Women in the US, Japan, Russia, and Sweden
Abstract
I chose to look at the conditions of working women for my SIP, because it is a topic that
greatly interests me. After having observed some women at work, I wanted to know if
the glass ceiling really existed, and whether or not it really was possible to "have it all" -- a successful career and children. I discovered a lot of things during my work and my
research. I have not come to any solid decisions about my own life yet, but the research I
have done now will especially help me when and if it comes time for me to decide if I
want to have a career, or children, or both. I also found looking at the conditions in other
countries to be fascinating. The cultural implications of working women's conditions are
something that everyone should be aware of, as they are not just limited to the workplace.
