Abstract
Merrill Lynch Corporation is a leader in the finical services industry. Charles E. Merrill and Edmund C. Lynch created it in 1914. It offers a wide range of financial services such as: personal financial planning, securities underwriting, trading and brokering, investment banking and advisory services, trading of foreign exchange, commodities and derivatives, banking and lending, insurance and research. It has accumulated over $1 trillion in client assets. The section of the financial services that my paper deals with is the personal financial planning. The Zangerle+ Mueting Group, for whom I worked,
was a member of the Private Client sector. The financial consultants that made
up the group are involved in the retail of financial planning. Although this industry is very interesting and deals with issues that should be important to all, through my experience I have come to the conclusion that it is not a career that I plan on being a part of. But I hope that through this paper the reader gains an understanding how great of an experience that I had working with the Zangerle+ Mueting Group. Section two is a brief introduction that touches on what I did as an intern at the Merrill Lynch Corporation in Dearborn, Michigan. Section three is a short explanation of the Merrill Lynch Corporation. It talks about the different divisions of the corporation.
Section four gives background on the members of the Zangerle+Mueting
Group, for whom I worked. It is a group of five people that work together to make
up one of the best financial consulting groups of the Merrill Lynch Corporation. In
being a financial consultant there are certain responsibilities that one owes to his
or her clients. This paragraph touches on these responsibilities as well.
Section five is a summation of the internship as a whole and my view on
the career. Financial consulting is a profession that requires patience and good
communication skills in order to fulfill the needs of the clients. Although I have
these characteristics I have no do desire to be a financial consultant.
Section six is the appendix, which includes several different journal entries
that are relevant to the material in the text.
