When Gender Equality Goes Awry: An Analysis of Communities for Equity v. Michigan High School Athletic Association
MetadataShow full item record
This project is designed as an argument against the findings of the Communities for Equity v. Michigan High School Athletic Association case filed in the Western District of Michigan Southern Division, and presided over by Judge Richard Allen Enslen. The project is divided into five main sections. It will begin with a review of the law, both federal and state, associated with this case, and will then move to a discussion of previous cases involving Title IX, state interscholastic athletic association, and so-called traditional seasons. I will then briefly describe the main participants in this lawsuit, followed by an analysis of the sports at issue in this case. Finally, I will provide a chronological overview of the lawsuit, and will complete my discussion with a number of additional reasons why I, and others like me, believe the defendant was wrongly accused of discriminating against females.
