Abstract
Since 2008 I have been involved with a women's professional tackle football team called the West Michigan Mayhem. While being involved I was truly inspired by these women of the game. These women not only love the game of football, they are very grateful that get to put on the pads and show off their talents for their family, friends, and fans. After being involved for two years and realizing just how much these women go through and how little recognition they receive for being professional athletes I felt inspired to create a story and try to spread the word about women's professional football. I felt that many people don't know about women's football, and if they do know about it there is very little information about what it's like to be a woman playing a "man's" sport. This study attempts to provide some background information about women's football, as well as provide owner and coaches input of certain issues involving the sport. There is more of a focus on the local team, the West Michigan Mayhem, because of my past relationships with the owners, coaches, and players of the organization.
