Staying in the Zone (Study of the Zone Diet)

"A diet that works." This is something that has been plaguing people in the U.S. for years upon years. Studies have shown that the U.S. is one of the most obese countries in the world. There have been numerous attempts with different types of fad diets to solve these problems. One diet that has been gaining popularity all over the U.S. is the "Zone Diet", which was first published in 1995. Barry Sears, the inventor of the "Zone", has written several books that have appeared on the New York Times bestseller lists. He has taken a stand with a little bit more research behind it. Over the course of three months I studied this diet and at the same time put myself and another female subject through this diet. We tried to adhere to this diet as close as possible and at the same time exercise to optimize the weight loss. However, I will explain that in this diet exercise is not as important as most diets. I will also explain how this diet allows for many other things that traditionally most people don't think they can do on a diet. As I mentioned, this research involved learning the "Zone Diet" and testing it. This paper involves first, an explanation of the diet and why it supposedly works. Next I will show whether or not I was able to find any kind of real evidence to prove this diet's claims.
