Abstract
Ethics in sports is examined paying special attention to how ethics affects both the
sports world and society as a whole. Ethical behavior, as well as unethical behavior, is
explained and documented occurrences of unethical behavior are cited. Examples range from high school to college to professional athletics. Examples show how athletes in all realms of athletic competition can be unethical, and what effect it has on the integrity of the sport, and the society in which the sport is being played. The possible reasons for this type of behavior, as well as the societal and sport-wide ramifications are discussed, and a recommendation is given.
