The comer of Michigan and Trumbull is hallowed ground in the city of Detroit. This intersection represents far more than a simple piece of property. This is the comer where baseball was played in Detroit for over a century. However, this is not simply a place of athletic competition, for it was not limited to baseball, but a place where the city came together. Besides the obvious economic impacts that Tiger Stadium had upon the city of Detroit, the social impacts were far reaching and had wider implications than the economic effects ever had. Tiger Stadium provided the city an emotional outlet as well as a sense of community. For a city that has seen so many ups and downs Tiger Stadium and the teams that played within its walls provided reasons to hope, reasons to cry and a place where people of every sort of socio-economic could come together for a common cause.
