Abstract
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at some point in middle school. If this seems too approximate to describe the moment in which I was told I had an autoimmune disorder, we agree. I do not recall when I received the diagnosis, or what it meant. to me, because I did not understand the weight of the news-the significance of having this disorder. As a pre-teen I did not have the wisdom to seek out information about hypothyroidism, nor did any adult seek it out for me. This lack of action had its consequences. My disorder fell by the wayside, as I essentially forgot about it for years. This personal narrative documents my re-discovering my autoimmune disorder, as well as it is a written discussion with myself about living to my healthiest potential with hypothyroidism.
