have always been a sports fan and my most favorite sport has always been baseball. I thought I knew a good deal about the sport of baseball, unaware that there was a chapter of baseball with which I was completely unfamiliar. That chapter was the Negro Leagues. My project led me to the library, where I found literature regarding the Negro Leagues. As I read through these books, I realized that I would not be able to get the right feel for my project without first-hand accounts. My project led me to take a trip to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri. The museum, run by former Negro Leaguer, Buck O'Neill, was filled with photos and memorabilia from the Leagues. I also found two former Negro Leaguers who were willing and able to talk to me about their time as baseball players in a country that separated them from their white counterparts.
