Abstract
Tennis is a unique game when compared to many other sports. It involves many of the same athleticism, but it also incorporates a mental aspect to the game that is unmatched. Other than possibly boxing, there is no other sport that matches one person against one person and involves as much coordination, strategy, and physical fitness as tennis. It is the combination of these things that is needed to be the most complete player possible on the tennis court. Proper practice, off-court training, rest, nutrition, preparation, scouting, mental strategies, and post-match analysis are the stepping stones to combining these essential parts to become a tennis player. Vince Lombardi once said "If you could have won, you should have." A player that prepares himself by using these steps should never lose a match they could have won. They will be the most prepared and complete player when they walk out onto the court for any match, as they have prepared for success.
