Abstract
I conducted my Senior Independent Project in the Mathematical Services Division of the Upjohn Company as a student intern under the supervision of Dr. John R. Kraska. I was allowed to choose any one of a number of projects available which were of interest to the company, and then to spend my time working on that project in whatever way I wished. This paper describes the problem I chose and the manner in which I worked toward the solution of it. The first half of my SIP quarter was spent becoming familiar with the problem and reading books and articles which discussed various aspects of it. During this time I also learned the computer languages APL and FORTRAN IV. The latter half of the quarter was devoted to writing a computer program in FORTRAN. By the end of the quarter the program yielded correct numerical results, but much work remains to be done if the program is to be general enough to be of use to the company. In fact, this suggests a possible project for another student intern.
