dc.description.abstractThe first chapter of this paper is dedicated to the two projects that I worked with while I was at the University of Michigan, that is the Shell, and the lexical analyzer. The second chapter is dedicated to MTS and UNIX. A brief history of both systems is given here. The third chapter is a tutorial on the the Shell in general, and a description of the Bourne Shell, and the C Shell follows. The last chapter is dedicated to the advantages and disadvantages of the Shell, and then the appendices follow.en_US
