Abstract
In a time when automation and our reliance on computer systems is steadily growing it is very important for us to ensure that the information we entrust to computers is properly protected. Methods to protect this information can be as simple as controlled procedures to as complicated as control within the structure of the hardware and software of the computer system itself. Computer security is a multidimensional problem that includes access, data control, user attitudes, management policies, and standards. In view of the importance of computer security, I was pleased to have the opportunity to take part in research and implementation of some security measures for the Control Computer Center at The Upjohn Company here in Kalamazoo.
