Abstract
The purpose of this study is to compare the similarities and differences between the various high schools of Michigan. The main focus will be on the obstacles facing the graduating seniors when choosing to attend college. All data analyzed was received through the use of surveys presented to three hundred randomly selected high schools in the Lower and Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The first section of this report contains an introduction to the basics of the project. It includes a general description of the statistical analysis preformed, as well as the techniques used to complete the analysis, and expectations of the results to be achieved. Section two goes deeply into the numerical aspect of the report, with results generated by a statistical analysis computer program. The third section includes a journal of the progress made throughout the project, project. and an assessment made after completion of the In the final section, a full analysis of the results obtained from the survey are documented, as well as listings of the written comments made on the surveys. From the results of the survey, I have discovered that there are a few distinct problems faced by today's high school students when it comes to deciding between pursuing higher education or an alternative route. These problems are faced by both students from the Upper Peninsula and Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Regardless of socioeconomic characteristics, the obstacles of finance and family attitude are the main factors defining whether a student chooses to further their education through college or chooses a different route after high school.
