Plot-10 Graphics Package
MetadataShow full item record
The key accomplishment of this SIP is the transformation of the existing pieces into a simple, usable, whole. Prior to the work presented here, PLOT-10 was available on the system in what was often called an unusable form by people that were familiar with computers and graphics. Some of the more common reasons given for this statement follow. First, Pascal EXTERNAL declarations had to be made for each PLOT-10 subroutine that was to be used within the program. This is a significant problem since the major programming language at Kalamazoo College is Pascal and the repetition of declarations becomes tedious. The work done for this SIP included the followinq: the ReGIS source code was modified to enhance speed at execution time and was put into a shareable image, both PLOT-10 images and the macro routines were modified to accomodate 3-d routines, the use of logicals to point to the shareable images was implemented at Dr. Piccard's suqqestion and with his help, the first few sections of Robin Piehl's PLOT-10 manual were expanded as they were too terse, the description of the 3-d routines was added, minor changes were made throughout the manual to improve readability, and hardcopy illustrations were created (with a microcomputer!) for the example cases discussed.
