The 1984 Analysis and Evaluation of the Fuel Consumption Along the Southeast Main Line and Tie Line
For the past six months, I have worked at the headquarters for the ANR (American Natural Resources) Pipeline Company in Detroit, Michigan. During my internship in the Operations Improvement Department, I worked on the annual fuel tracking project which examines fuel usage along the pipelines. This project is helpful in detecting good and bad engine operating philosophies or techniques in order that the company's productivity can be made more efficient. To do the data analysis for the fuel tracking project, I learned the computer language SAS (Statistical Analysis Systems) and increased my understanding of FORTRAN. My fellow employees and my SIP supervisor, Dr. Rajnak, were a great help to me in my endeavors. A great deal of knowledge and understanding of the fuel tracking project and of the mathematics involved came from my supervisor at the ANR Pipeline Company, Carole Stieler. Because of her patience, encouragement, and support, my SIP experience has been an enlightening and enjoyable opportunity.
