Applying Software Methodologies to a Web Application
Abstract
As a computer science major at Kalamazoo College, I have spent the last 3
years learning and mastering theory and skills that will allow me to put computers
to work efficiently and effectively. This summer I put those skills to the test with
an internship for Electronic Data Systems. The work that I performed this
summer has formed the basis for this experiential SIP, and, as such, will detail
largely my experiences this summer and how I was able to apply skills and
design patterns learned at Kalamazoo to complete that work. The segment of EDS that I was hired into specifically works for General Motors,
which happens to be EDS's largest client. At the time of my hiring, I was told that
for the summer my responsibilities would largely consist of aiding my mentor,
Steve Mader, and his team, in the deployment and integration of a large web
application written in Java.
