Why I Had to Break iTrax; A Discussion of PDT, ISO and TQM

Abstract

This project deals with a company's pursuit of quality and standardization to facilitate that company's goal of being their client's first choice. I detail my internship responsibilities at Portable Data Technologies, including my role as a beta tester, and consequently my assessment and improvement of the quality of the products I tested. I describe quality standards including ISO 9000, and discuss the effects of poor quality. Total Quality Management is illustrated as a driving philosophy behind quality and quality standards, and I conclude TQM philosophies to be more important than quality certification alone.
