This study entails the characterization of the α5𝛽2𝛾2 receptor complex. This was achieved through first profiling the pharmacological properties of the benzodiazepine and GABA sites with a battery of known agonist and antagonist ligands. Secondly, a collection of anthelmintic agents suspected of interacting with invertebrate GABA receptors were also evaluated for affinity with the HEK-α5𝛽2𝛾2 receptor complex. Finally, the allosteric interaction between the GABA and benzodiazepine sites were explored.
