In Vitro Studies Concerning Deficiencies of Monocyte Chemotaxis
It was the intention of this author to develop a monocyte chemotaxis assay which could be used to evaluate the immune system capabilities of patients afflicted with cancer or leukemia. Such a system would be instrumental in diagnosing specific disease entities, and supplying information pertinent to the development of a treatment protocol. The studies presented here were performed in conjunction with a monocyte cytotoxicity assay. It is hoped that these techniques will offer physicians additional information concerning a patient's state of health. Also, subsequent investigations of the patient's monocyte function would allow one to quantitatively determine any improvement in the patient's health.
