In partial fulfillment of my Senior Individualized Project, I worked at Bronson Methodist Hospital in the laboratory as a diener. I was associated primarily with the Pathology and Histology Departments.under the, supervision of Dr. Allan H. Russcher, Dr. Ronald L. Schuen. and Dr. Thomas B'. Burkhardt. My responsibilities included the preparation and assisting during autopsy examinations as well as the histological preparation and examination of specimens procured during autopsy. It was also my responsibility to keep the necropsy suite and the equipment located there properly cleaned and the room well supplied. Although employed principally in pathology, I also learned venipuncture and assisted the phlebotomist team whenever necessary. This training included participation in the early morning collection of blood specimens and assisting with the drawing of out-patients and Emergency Room patients. This aspect of my experience afforded me a great deal of personal patient contact which I enjoyed very much.
