Abstract
My senior independent project consisted of working in the clinical laboratory at the V. A. Hospital in Battle Creek. The goal of my SIP was to obtain experience working in a clinical laboratory, to gain an understanding of how a clinical laboratory operates and to become familiar with the procedures and instruments employed. I rotated through the following laboratories; hematology, urinalysis, chemistry, toxicology and serology, where I observed the procedures and then performed the various tests. In addition to this, I performed electrocardiograms, drew blood and assisted with autopsies.
