Abstract
Studies were performed in order to determine the enzymatic
step at which interconversion of PGF to PGE takes place.
Radioactive PGF2α substrate was incubated with the dialyzed
high-speed supernatant of adult rat kidney homogenates. It
was determined that PGF2α could be directly converted into
PGE2. The enzyme responsible for this conversion, 9-hydroxy-PG-
oxidoreductase, had little cofactor specificity with
respect to NAD and NADP.
