British Involvement in South Africa: The Events Contributing to the Anglo-Boer War of 1899
Abstract
South Africa's ability to continue a policy of apartheid after most of the world has condemned her actions, shows the true strength of Afrikaner nationalism. The Afrikaners of today, like their forefathers before them, believe in their God given right to rule South Africa. They have a history of fighting for their land. This struggle for the survival of their nation has created a very nationalistic people. The Transvaal is one of four provinces which make up the present. day Republic of South Africa. The history of 'the Transvaal from 18?0 to 1902 exemplifies the Afrikaner struggle for land, independence and a way of life.
