This paper proposes to examine certain aspects of the history of two European countries, Great Britain and Germany, during the late 1920's and early 1930's. The time period more specifically is: in Great Britain from the General Election of 1929 to the General Election of 1931 and in Germany from the fall of the Mueller government in 1929 to the appointment of Hitler as Reich Chancellor in 1933. The events examined are for the most part political, but some social and economic events have been included. I have tried to use two techniques in the paper. The first is direct comparison, the second is the listing of events with any comparisons reserved for concluding remarks. Rather than emphasizing direct comparisons where they might not exist I have tried to work toward a limited understanding of the political events which led to the formation of the National Government in Great Britain and to the appointment of the Hitler government in Germany.en_US
