In Irving Stone's final passage on Alton B. Parker, he dramatically laments that the chief judge will never have a biography written about him. Finding such a challenge too inviting to ignore, I picked up the gauntlet. My sentiment aroused, the intellect excited, my sense of justice indignant, I set forth to vindicate this most neglected of presidential candidates. Alton B. Parker still lacks his biography.
