This Kalamazoo College Senior Individualized Project is the result of four long months of research and writing. The subject is an interesting one that enables the reader to gain a better understanding of religious culture in the later Middle Ages. At that time, religion was an automatic occurrence in the lives of both clerics and lay persons, thus, knowledge of this subject will give insight on the importance of the study of religion in the Middle Ages. This paper is far from complete in comprehending the secular clergy; much more research could be done to complement what has already been written.
