Internship at the Walter Reuther Library and Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs: Philip Taft and the Industrial Workers of the World
MetadataShow full item record
My internship at the Walter Reuther Library and Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs, involved processing the Philip Taft collection for research use. I organized and described his papers according to Archival principles, using the standard format required in finding aids at the Reuther Archives. Processing an archival collection involves research on the person or organization donating or depositing the collection, as well as major subjects covered. This is to insure that the papers are described and arranged in the context of their creation or original intent. The original function and intent must be maintained to the greatest possible extent. To explain this further, I have provided a brief outline of the history of modem archival theory.
