Samuel De Champlain and the Formative Years of the Fur Trade in New France 1603-1635

I have decided to write a paper for my Senior Individualized Project requirement on the fur trade in New France between the years 1566 and 1635. This time period was chosen because these were the years when Samuel de Champlain was involved directly in the fur trade. My interest in this topic is due partly to the fact that it is an original project and because Champlain was a vital element in the history of Canada. Much conjecture about Champlain and the fur trade has appeared and it is my purpose to sift though the mythology surrounding the early years of the fur trade and organize a narrative history from the disjointed sources presently comprising the literature of this topic.
