The Political Philosophy of the Tory-Loyalists of the American Revolution

Abstract

For the most part, this paper uses pamphlets written prior to 1776. After this date the debate on the political issues was obscured by the issue of independence and the battle for the loyalty of the colonists. The pamphlets which serve as the basis of this paper are all of American origin . The intention here is to examine the political thought of the American colonists who supported the authority of the British Empire to discover what motivated that decision.
