The following is an essay in several senses of the word. It takes the form of an experiment and a trial, and is certainly only a first and incomplete attempt at analyzing a complicated series of events and issues. The ultimate goal of this project is to raise more questions than it answers, to highlight . ambiguities and differences of interpretation, and to explore the possibilities and difficulties of fixing blame and seeking retribution for events of the past.en_US
