Since the visit of the Emperor Hadrian in the year 122 A.D., the Wall which bears his name has influenced the life of northern England. Much has already been written about the Wall, from the time of Imperial Rome to the modern day. This paper is intended to be a general examination of the Wall and its impact on Roman Britain. The paper will attempt to fuse diverse political, military and social aspects of the Wall, as well as to present a new explanation of the possible thought behind the Wall's many modifications.en_US
