Abstract
I would like to try and answer the questions of who was on Johnson's Island, why .they were there, what it was like there and most of all why Johnson's Island was used as a prison camp. I would like to show this Northern prison camp as it was. It all started for Johnson's Island with the realization by officials that the war was not going to be over in ninety days or less and they had captives that had to be dealt with.
