This work represents the culmination of a fascination that began when I was twelve and discovered the family portrait (1891) and the genealogy that H.M. (Henry Martin Bradley) left behind. While others spend their energy constructing a family tree, this had already been done, so my interest turned towards finding out what these men did and were in the times in which they lived.
